Description:
Two masterpieces from Ryunosuke Akutagawa's early career are collected here. "Rashomon" depicts human egoism and ugliness through the psychological transformation of a desperate servant who takes shelter under the crumbling Rashomon gate and, facing starvation, turns to theft to survive. "Taro Kaja's Gruel" follows an unremarkable minor official named Gojo whose long-held desire to eat taro gruel until he tires of it unexpectedly comes true, revealing how unfulfilled dreams and the hope we carry often become the very foundation that sustains our will to live. Level 5.
